I’m excited to share this, y’all.
The Simple Writing cohort is moving to Maven this month, and we’re going deeper on writing authentically with AI. How we got here:
I launched Simple Writing, a training and digital education business, two months ago to help people become excellent writers and communicators, build foundational AI skills and thrive at work.
Over those two months, I’ve trained ~35 people and the No. 1 requested topic (by far) was how to use AI in simple and practical ways while still being authentically yourself.
At first, I tried to ignore the feedback.
I didn’t want to go deeper on AI. There’s so much noise out there about it, and I didn’t want to become “another AI guy.”
But I kept noticing something that bothered me.
As it related to writing, the macro AI conversation was binary. AI was either the greatest writing tool ever, or it was the worst. It either made your writing better and faster, or it stripped you of your voice and made you inauthentic. There was no “Option C.”
But the truth is, there is an Option C.
There’s a way to benefit from AI while still communicating in an authentic, human and “normal” way. I know, because I do it everyday.
While I was noticing this theme, the feedback from people I trained sounded similar.
“I know I need to figure out AI”
“I want simple ways to use AI that actually help”
“I’m afraid I won’t have a job in 5 years if I don’t have AI skills”
“My company is going all in on AI - we all need to learn it”
Etc, etc, etc.
At the same time, Claire Chen reached out. She said they saw what I was doing with Simple Writing and felt there was a need for it in their community.
And that’s what led to Simple Writing with AI, the new-and-improved cohort coming to Maven.
We’re doing a first run in August starting in two weeks (enroll here).

This won’t be for everyone. I’m not an “AI expert.” I’m not trying to solve all problems with AI. I’m not building custom products or advanced automations.
But I can help the person who wants to learn how to write well and authentically with AI.
I can help the person who cares about their craft and wants to enhance it with technology.
I can help the person who wants to build a practical AI skill and become 20-40% more efficient at work, tomorrow.
